What nurses tell us, including when the answer was no
These are paraphrased, anonymised accounts of conversations from our own consultations. They are composites rather than verified public reviews, and we have deliberately included the ones where our advice was to go somewhere else.
No names, employers or identifying details appear here, and none of these are quoted from a review platform. If you want verified third-party reviews of Herzing itself, read them on an independent review site rather than on any guide, including this one.
Where Herzing was the right answer
“I had called two other schools and both of them said placement was my responsibility, in almost those words. Herzing was the first one that said it would step in. I am rural, there are two practices within an hour of me, and I could not take that risk on myself.”
Family nurse practitioner track · rural Midwest“What actually convinced me was being told to ask for the catalog wording. I did, the adviser sent it, and it read the way it had been described. That single exchange told me more about the school than the whole website had.”
Psychiatric-mental health track · considering three schools“I had used Canvas at my community college. Finding out the classroom was the same system I already knew mattered more to me than it probably should have, but starting a master's while working nights is hard enough without learning new software.”
BSN to MSN · full-time nightsWhere we said no
These matter more than the ones above, because they are the conversations a school-funded guide could not have with you.
“I was about to enrol in the nursing education master's because I assumed the placement guarantee covered everything. It does not cover that track. Nobody had said so, and I would not have thought to ask.”
Nursing education track · redirected“My manager had already agreed to precept me. I was told, fairly bluntly, that I would be paying about ten thousand dollars extra for insurance against something that had already been solved. I went elsewhere and I am glad.”
Adult-gerontology track · preceptor already secured“The honest version was that I did not need the most expensive school, I needed deadlines. That was not the conversation I expected to have and it changed what I applied for.”

Twenty minutes, at no cost. If the honest answer is that Herzing is wrong for you, that is what you will hear.
