If your goal is clinical practice in a specialty, the master's does that job. If you are aiming at faculty roles, systems leadership or anywhere a terminal degree is expected, the doctorate is the one that eventually gets asked for.
The honest time and money question
A doctoral route is longer, and at a per-credit school longer means more credits and therefore more money. There is no pace discount at Herzing to soften that.
The counter-argument is that going back later costs more in total than continuing now, and many nurses never do go back. If a DNP is genuinely in your plan, doing it in one continuous run is usually cheaper than doing it in two.
